Anyone remember Nightzone? Akinori Utsumi still does consistent backwards entries at Meihan but now with a more upgraded onevia. 650ps thanks to his NOS spooled T047 SR20 and a set of big ass Advan Neovas mean fast initiations and some ridiculous recovery, when he lifted off throttle the car practically came to a stop from all the grip. Utsumi san is a pretty cool guy, we chatted for a while about the car and he was more than happy to pose for some photos after he saw my Rolleiflex and found out I was shooting with film.

I got some video of him and still have to process my favourite photos on medium format film but I’m pretty happy with how these came out.

I was pretty bummed that we missed the last D1SL round where Nakamura took the win, but all that was washed away yesterday morning. We turned up to Meihan Circuit only to find Mr Wall Scrape-amura parked up and ready to get onto the track, we could not have been more stoked. His level of driving is so much higher than anyone else I have witnessed and I was truly stunned standing by myself at the end of the entry watching him enter backwards with his exhaust bending on the wall. As you can imagine I shot a monumental amount of video and photos including huge sequences of his wing to wall scraping action, unfortunately I have somewhat already filled up my laptops HDD! so I will see what I can do.
