On the 23rd of October I went to a classic motorcycle meet at Hampton and with camera in hand I drooled over all the beautiful bikes I wish I could own. I’m happy I went as I met a bunch of really interesting people with long histories in bike racing who even let me shoot some of their bikes. Check here and here for two digital shots I posted.

This was only the second roll of 120 I had developed after first picking up my Rollei 2.8F and I forgot to account for the amount of chemicals needed when fixing. The result was not enough chemicals over one edge of the roll , luckily I caught it after I had pulled it from the tank and put it back in to help save what I could. Unfortunately it was too late and a nice dark edge has embed itself into the side of the roll. This photo along with one other of the same bike stood out to me the most. There are a lot of interesting aspects to the photo but the heavy focus of the front wheel and the pattern of the metal spokes stand out the most. The curves of the tyre and the reflected ring on the floor contrast nicely with the straight lines of the pit lane floor and carry the eye towards the wheel centre.

The sharpness and dof of the Rollei continue to amaze me. Unless it’s for a special purpose or it’s badly in need of saving I do not digitally process any of my film, that’s best left to the darkroom if need be. Being able to get quality straight from the camera is motivating to say the least.
