Remembering the old days

Screen Shot 2013-06-04 at 10.03.36 PM

I’ve finally stepped into 2013.

The laptop I’ve been processing on for approx 9 years has finally driven me over the edge. With its 1.6 GHz intel core 1 CPU, 2GB of DDR2 ram and a 60GB hard drive it wasn’t exactly doing me any favours. The screen is broken on two corners, has light patches all over it from being stuffed in a bag whilst around the world, no space bar key and only barely has USB 2.0. I have used it for 99% of all my photographic life (approx 10 years now) and although it has seriously hindered me at times, has been an absolute trooper. I wanted to point that out because it shows that you don’t NEED the best of equipment to learn and produce good work. It certainly helps but in no way is it an excuse for not trying!

Having said that, I am over the moon with the new addition to the electronic family/zoo: a 27″ Apple iMac. Now I’m not a total Apple fan boy but I sure do feel like one in front of this incredible screen, frothing at the mouth.

I’m transferring most of my content over to the new HDD and along the way I thought I’d take a trip down memory lane. The above screen capture is from LR4, from the BBQ meet we had at the C’s Garage pad in April 2011. I might post a few more photos from this as I didn’t really put much up from it.

I went out to the garage on the weekend to hang out whilst the s13 and Hugo’s AE got some work done to them. Joel and Josh were busy wiring up the recently swapped SR20 into the S13 and Adam was plugging away at the new front end on the AE. I haven’t been out there in a while now as they’re quite far from where I live but it was awesome to see the progress. Go and like the FB page or visit the blog

Sunday was a day of first starts as at the same time as myself and my friend Nick started his race motorcycle two stroke for the first time, Joel and Josh nudged the SR into life, success! Can’t wait to see this driving again.

Whilst I’m posting, I did some 555 knuckle product shots for Joel and Adam a while back and Joel dropped some graphics over them. They look good, right! I suggest you include some GOGOGO in your life for added awesome.

Joel’s yellow car

I was peering around my film folders for something worth posting whilst I make time to develop these TT photos and how can you go past this? Man it’s been a while homey, looking forward to seeing this hovercraft float around again one day. The kit was a bit roughed up at this time, the front lip was half its normal size. These were the last photos taken of the kranze on the rear before they were sold. C’s garage

I did some quick product shots for Adam and Joel a few weeks back of their growing Billspeer line. We both know you want some so go here and tell them you want to go backwards.

Making the most of a rainy weekend / BBQ Grillin at C’s Garage / April, 2011

April 26, 2011

Joel is off to Japan soon but that doesn’t mean the yellow car will be left to wait. The VSXXs and Kranze have been sold and things are on the onwards and upwards. In light of this and the BBQ meet the other weekend, I felt it appropriate to catch it as it sits now. The ability to look back on each stage of a cars build is invaluable. I can only imagine 20 years down the track flicking through these images and thinking something, what exactly… only the future knows.

The yellow car is looking better than ever. New bumper with fresh paint makes all the difference. It’s unfortunate that the driveway is gravel but I think because of the tone gradients, it kind of works. Lets face it, it’s pretty hard to take a bad photo of a car so menacing.

On the weekend something awesome happened. After years of building, track days and what not, finally most of the cars are together in one spot at the same time! I had to work both Saturday and Sunday but pitched up in the afternoons between howling wind and torrential rain. Many cars didn’t make it unfortunately, I don’t know if we could fit all our friends cars in the driveway. Cars missing from the above photo that were there:  Wazzy’s JZX81, Olly’s 180SX. NZPC is doing a feature on the garage so the next issue should definitely be worth picking up.

More to come
